PT-11 Design & Build Team

Meet the ACC11 Build Team

Dave Walworth Dave Walworth
The Naval Architect of the PT-11 is Dave Walworth.
Dave grew up in the 70s in Fort Worth, Texas. He attended St. Johns College where he received a Bachelors in Liberal Arts. After that he taught sailing in Annapolis and built sails in New York. His next stop was Maine at the Landing School where he received a certificate in boat design. This is where Dave and Bill K met in 1988. After his stint in Maine at the Landing School he joined the team at Goetz Custom, where for 5 years Dave and Bill worked building boats and sailing together.
Realizing building may not be his destiny, Dave applied to MIT and was accepted in the Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering Masters program. Dave completed his masters in 1996 all the while living on his 1961 Fairey Marine Atlanta 26 in Boston Harbor. After graduation, Dave went to work for Gold Coast Yachts St. Croix, USVI, as their engineer. Dave still resides in St Croix but now works for himself and possesses his P.E. License. One of his designs, Makani, a 65 foot sailing charter cat doing business in HI, has been clocked at over 26 knots with 50 passengers on board! Visit Dave’s Website for more information about his work.
